Don’t Get Deleted!
Sometimes on boards with strict rules, your picture(s) could be regarded
as spam and deleted. Here are a few things to help avoid this.
1: You can usually get away with more if the moderators know you as a well-behaving
member of the site. This isn’t to say that they ever play favorites, but
it makes sense that they’d be less likely to consider something you do spam
if you’ve never posted anything spam-like before, doesn’t it? Don’t abuse
this. Don’t bother expecting it either.
2: Don’t post something that’s more than 60% text unless than other 40% is
downright beautiful.
3: Quickies are great fun, but if you post too many when others are trying
to do long pics, people will start to get annoyed.
4: Using hideous grammar often lowers people’s opinion of your intelligence.
Use the proper mix of caps and lowercase, don’t abbreviate too much, and
use enough punctuation to be comprehensible. (There is lot of difference
between “Does anyone have any children? I do, a four-year old,” and “Does
anybody have any children? I do a 4 year old.” Damn pedophiles….)
Making Announcements
1: No text-oriented images!
2: Don’t throw together a couple of brown rectangles to pass it off as a
sign post either.
3: Put effort into a nice signpost. Draw wood grain. Make the words carved
into it instead of the text tool. Add sky, and birds, and ground, and grass.
Maybe a character. Or you can draw a character holding a sign. Or draw a
black rectangle along the edge with rainbow-y letters. Something.
